RI-VIS hosts Final meeting

On 17 January 2022 RI-VIS held its Final Meeting. The meeting celebrated the numerous accomplishments carried out by the project over the last 3 years.

RI-VIS is a Horizon 2020 funded project designed to increase the visibility of European research infrastructures (RIs) to new communities in Europe and beyond.

The objectives of RI-VIS were to map RI services to new target communities and identify routes to maximize exchange of information and bases for new partnerships by creating an outreach programme and a freely available collection of tools to bring research infrastructures together with new target communities and facilitate collaborative engagement.

Three White Papers were prepared to this end addressing research infrastructure collaboration between Europe and Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and Australia. These White Papers collate the insights of more than 21 experts across the respective regions and target funders, policy makers and research infrastructure managers with recommendations on how to increase collaboration between European research infrastructures and counterparts from other world regions. A Communications Toolkit was also developed in parallel to support the RIs in their outreach activity.

The pandemic impacted the initially planned outreach activities which were rescheduled and planned as online events. Three symposia were organised bringing together European stakeholders with counterparts from Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and Australia. An additional event was also organised between Europe and Russia.

The Final Meeting also covered the four kick-start projects that were funded to encourage international RI collaboration.
