Improving the clinical trials environment in the European Union through harmonisation, innovation, and collaboration with stakeholders.

The COMBINE project aims to analyse the root causes of the challenges encountered by sponsors in conducting combined studies and to identify possible solutions to these challenges.

The Clinical Research Initiative for Global Health (CRIGH) aims to support international collaboration on clinical research for the benefit of patients, healthcare professionals, and health systems. The initiative will seek to optimise clinical research programmes in participating countries, to develop global standards on clinical research, to promote the take-up of innovative methodology and technologies, and to enhance institutional capacity to rapidly and efficiently respond to global health challenges.

The implementation of the Clinical Trials Regulation is part of the Accelerating Clinical Trials in Europe (ACT EU) initiative, which aims to support the successful and timely implementation of the Clinical Trials Regulation (CTR) and its implementing acts. In this Initiative we find a group of stakeholder representatives that provide feedback on the implementation of the CTIS.

eConsent is a multistakeholder initiative to harmonize terminologies and processes on various aspects of eConsent, to increase insight in different stakeholder value models, and to provide a consistent country-level overview of local acceptance/non-acceptance.

EU-AMRI is the collaboration between the European research infrastructures BBMRI-ERIC, EATRIS-ERIC, and ECRIN-ERIC and aims to offer a one-stop-shop for industry and academia.

The EU-X-CT initiative has been established to help enable cross-border access to trials for patients when there is no option for them to join a clinical trial in their own country.

The GLSP Roadmap Initiative brought together experts from over 60 stakeholders, representing academia, industry, patient organisations and not for profit organisations to develop a pragmatic, broadly accepted framework for planning, development, translation and dissemination of lay summary clinical trial results.

The ‘Rare Disease Moonshot’ is a commitment and collaboration between seven organisations to break down the barriers to finding new treatments and cures for the world’s rarest and severe conditions which currently have no therapeutic options, and which often affect the youngest patients.

Through the creation of a common strategy strengthening regulatory sciences, as well as establishing a core curriculum for professional training of clinical scientists and a comprehensive curriculum for specific post-graduate programmes, the project will enable faster dissemination and availability of cutting-edge treatments across Europe.
