In the combined efforts to find a cure and a vaccine for COVID-19, time is precious and stakes are high, and research funding must be spent wisely. Until now no university or country has beaten COVID-19, despite the 3,4K COVID-19 clinical studies underway. This proliferation is unsustainable and includes the risk of being redundant, underpowered or even methodological weak.

The solution is bundling information that is already there: Larger-scale, multi-national and multi-site research. EU governments created Research Infrastructures who support precisely that. A joint effort from the European Research Infrastructures BBMRI-ERIC, EATRIS, and ECRIN published the top 5 recommendations to accelerate COVID-19 research and to leave no stone unturned in this global health crisis (PDF here).
