World Health Organisation logoThe World Health Organization (WHO) organized the first Global Clinical Trial Forum in Geneva to put forward a joint vision for sustainable clinical research infrastructure and to strengthen clinical trial capabilities. The forum aims to develop a joint vision on strengthening clinical research capabilities in alignment with the World Health Assembly’s resolution 75.8: "Strengthening clinical trials to provide high-quality evidence on health interventions and to improve research quality and coordination."

Together with 130 experts from 43 countries, ECRIN's Director General, Jacques Demotes, participated in the forum representing both ECRIN and CRIGH. Throughout the summit, experiences and lessons learned were exchanged among various disciplines and health condition areas. The forum participants called for clinical trial infrastructure, including among others domestic funding, national support for clinical trial infrastructure, improving coordination and streamlining of regulatory and ethics review and approval processes, enhancing patient engagement, and enabling clinical trials with digital and information technologies.
