EOSC4Cancer kickoff

8 November 2022

On 28-29th September, EOSC4Cancer brought together a consortium of 29 participants from 13 countries, tackling data-driven cancer research from various angles. The kick-off started off with a warm welcome by Alfonso Valencia from Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Alfonso highlighted the importance of synergies with related initiatives.

It was highlighted that the aim for the project is to technically implement the European Open Science Cloud for Cancer: federated data spaces, data harmonisation and federated analysis

  • create well-curated data sets
  • learn from and create value for the five project use cases, mirroring the patient journey: cancer registries, screening programmes, multi-omics, circulating DNA and clinical decision support systems
  • engage with stakeholders and leverage synergies with the EU Cancer Mission programmes, European Health Data Space, the EOSC family and beyond
  • create a Roadmap towards a European Cancer Data Space
