Australia - Europe Symposium on Research Infrastructures
International cooperation in science and technology is an important part of addressing major global issues like climate change, infectious disease, food security, and natural disasters. Research Infrastructures are organizations providing state-of-the-art resources, services and expertise to scientists. The RI-VIS project unites research infrastructures across scientific domains to work together more efficiently and effectively and increase their visibility in society.
Research Infrastructures provide such coordination by offering access to key facilities, resources and expertise to empower research driven by scientific excellence and beyond the individual research capacity of different countries, economic sectors, or institutions.
We also invite representatives from funding agencies as well as policymakers to join and discuss opportunities for working together. By bringing together the right people we hope to create collaborations and initiate networks sustainably so that all stakeholders benefit.

Ahead of the symposium, the RI-VIS project has published the White Paper entitled "Recommendations towards cooperation between Australian and European research infrastructures". This White Paper collates the insights of experts from Australian RIs, European RIs, and policymakers, highlighting examples of Australian-European RI collaboration, best practices for successful collaboration, perceived challenges and bottlenecks, and from these presents a series of actionable recommendations.
