ECRIN 2030
European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network 2030Funding programme: Co-funding Horizon Europe (101292598)
Budget: 5M€
Coordinator: ECRIN
Duration: 3 years (2026-2029)
The ECRIN 2030 project will address, in three distinct pillars, the three major challenges of clinical research over the next decade: preparing the clinical research infrastructure for the European Health Data Space (EHDS) ecosystem, developing services to the next generation of clinical trials, and promoting ECRIN membership expansion and a mature interconnected clinical trial infrastructure worldwide. The consortium unveiled the exciting plans that will shape the infrastructure over the next 3 years.
In short, the project will ensure that ECRIN plays a key role in the EHDS, including a dedicated service offer and tools that are compliant with the harmonised framework for secondary use of health data and clinical trial data. Moreover, it resolves to upgrade ECRIN’s services and tools to ensure integration of FAIR principles where possible.
ECRIN 2030 will develop new services to support decentralised trials with the aim of creating more inclusive and patient-centric clinical trials, all while supporting a reduction in the trial carbon footprint.
The project looks to engage key stakeholders, building capacity in ECRIN Member countries through training and knowledge transfer, expanding membership to extend outreach and supporting the global clinical research community to enhance growth and strategic stability. The whole will contribute to strengthening the global competitiveness of the European Research Area.
