We are thrilled to share our 2024 Annual Report!

2024 marked the launch of our new Strategic Plan (2024-2027) which builds on all that has come before it and works towards consolidation of the research infrastructure and its activities.

In the next four years, ECRIN will sustain- the organisation, the activities, the community, the quality, and the collaborations; will innovate- to meet the new challenges and evolving clinical research ecosystem; and will empower -our staff, partners, and patients’ community.

ECRIN’s strategic goals as outlined in the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan

The year also brought about a continued and strengthened representation of the academic clinical trials across Europe with ECRIN playing a key role in ACTEU as a representative of the Multistakeholder Group Advisory Board and also participating in various initiatives to improve clinical studies in Europe such as EU-X-CT and eConsent.

2024 marked the launch of ECRIN’s Regulatory and Ethical Database (RED), which provides regulatory and ethical information coverage across an increasing number of European countries. It also saw the first investigator initiated clinical study call opened by the ERA4Health project.

The ECRIN study portfolio includes several key studies that are in the close out phase including the c4c project and TREOCAPA. To highlight an interest for researchers in multinational clinical studies, we sat down with Dr. Jean-Christophe Rozé.

ECRIN’s commitment to supporting sponsors and investigators in the conduct of their clinical studies is demonstrated not only through their everyday activity but also through the maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which allows the provision of high-quality services ensuring user satisfaction. Learn more about how we work to support the clinical research community in the interview with our Italian EuCo, Maria Buoncervello.

A lot of activity took place in 2024 including International Clinical Trials Day co-hosted by our Greek partner focusing on Data Centric Clinical Research; training sessions to support the submission of European clinical study proposal; a summer school for our staff in Malaga; Clinical Trial Unit day to bring together our CTU’s from across Europe; a first face to face communications working group; many workshops webinars and additional trainings.

Our data team also facilitated the transfer of the clinical trial data from one of the VACCELERATE clinical trials to the clinical research Data Sharing Repository.

In this edition of our Annual Report, we take the time to focus on drug repurposing, what has been underway to encourage its implementation in Europe and focus on some studies that have come through our portfolio and the REMEDi4all project. We also sat down with our Clinical Project Manager Sareema Javaid to learn more about the REMEDi4all project.
